Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, surgery such as a biopsy can be performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day.

Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation:

• Your surgical referral from your dentist or doctor and any x-rays if applicable.
• A list of medications you are presently taking.
• Most consultations,x-rays and procedures are covered by medical health insurance.Find out the name of your policy, this will help in assessing what is covered by your insurance.

A preoperative consultation and examination is mandatory for patients undergoing IV sedation for surgery. Please have nothing to eat or drink four hours prior to your surgery. You will also need an adult to drive you home and stay with you for four hours after surgery.

X-Rays and Conebeam CT

If your dentist or doctor has taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional films are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.

Usually the X-rays your dentist has taken indicate that your problem is a complex one and hence their referral to Wayne. For this reason Wayne will usually take a different type of X-ray called a Conebeam CT. This is a high resolution 3D CT scan of your facial bones and gives the information needed for deciding on the best treatment.
