Mr. Barry Geldenhuys
Barry was born in Stellenbosch, South Africa and obtained his Bachelors in Dentistry from the University of Stellenbosch in 2001 and Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pretoria in 2007.
After a year in private practice as a general dentist he was accepted into the training program for Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery at the University of Witwatersrand and spent the next four years at two of the world’s biggest hospitals (Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic and the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospitals). He was accepted as a fellow of the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa in Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery in 2012.
Since then he has been involved in both private practice as well as public service in South Africa prior to moving to New Zealand in 2018.
He has a passion for all aspects of Maxillofacial Surgery, especially implantology, pathology, reconstructive and orthognathic surgery and enjoys healthy academic discussions with colleagues. He believes in a treatment philosophy that should involve all disciplines included in patient care, especially the referring dentist. Above all, the patient should remain central to the treatment planning and be involved in tailor making each treatment plan according to individual needs.
On the private side, he enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Maryam, and children Mila and Nico, keeping fit and loves the creative side of life.
